December 2007: The Quality Management System of Latvijas Radio awarded 

The Latvian national radio company, Latvijas Radio, is the first radio station in the world and the first European media company to get the ISAS BC 9001 certification. The conformity audit, performed by Det Norske Veritas, took place on December, 2007.

The certification perimeter encompassed the four channels of the group - LR 1 (generalist), LR2 (pop music in Latvian language), LR3 (classic music) and LR4 (dedicated to minorities and Russian speaking population). Since 2005, Latvijas Radio has already met the requirements of ISO 9001. “Quality and the recognition of our commitment to quality by an international certification organism were necessary to give us the credibility we needed after 50 years of Sovietism”, explains its General Director, Mr. Aigars Semevics. The ISAS BC 9001 certification awards not only the quality of the management system but also the professionalism of Latvijas Radio production processes.
