Canal Once – Mexico: first public service broadcaster ISAS BC 9001 certified

On December the 4th, 2007, Canal Once became the first television channel of the Americas to get the ISAS BC 9001 certification and the first public service broadcaster one. This awards Canal Once long time commitment to quality - since 2002 the channel, specialized in culture and education, has been ISO 9001certified. It is also the recognition of its compliance with the best practices of media management.

The whole quality system was designed according to Canal Once needs and realities, without restraining nor the creativity nor the reactivity, as commented by one of the production directors. The numerous international awards received by Canal Once productions and programs and their growing market-share are the best evidences of this dynamism.

In October 2007, Canal Once opened its ombudsman desk (defensor de la audiencia). This innovative initiative for Mexico is an additional way to attend audience and stakeholders’ needs. The new ombudsman is in charge of responding to all kinds of claims and demands dealing mainly with quality and ethics. He plays the part of a mediator between the channel and its stakeholders. Regular reports will be issued on his work and he will be given dedicated broadcasting time to present his job and results (more information on: http://oncetv-ipn.net/buzon/defensor/)
